"The goal which all the Vedas declare, which all austerities aim at, and which men desire when they lead the life of continence … is OM. This syllable OM is indeed Brahman. Whosoever knows this syllable obtains all that he desires. This is the best support; this is the highest support. Whosoever knows this support is adored in the world of Brahma."

Om or Aum is of paramount importance in Hinduism. The most sacred symbol in Hindu dharma. Aum (OM) is the sound of the infinite.

A stands for Creation
U stands for Preservation
M stands for Destruction or dissolution

OM Shanti OM – Let there be peace on earth.

Shanti (Santi)

Shanti (Pali: Santi) simply means "peace". It's a beautiful meaning and also a very beautiful sound. The shanti is repeated three times, as are many chants in Buddhism. This is generally interpreted as meaning the Threefold Peace in body, speech, and mind (i.e. peace in the entirety of one's being).

Hindu teachings typically end with the words Om shanti shanti shanti as an invocation of peace and the mantra is also used to conclude some Buddhist devotional ceremonies.
