Practical Yoga Practice
Every day thousands of persons may be devoting time in vedic-prayer (sandhya) (reverential-praise, prayer and worship of Ishwar). Taking posture, they may be practicing pranayam (breathing exercises) with closed eyes making Japa and reciting the verses too. But it is generally seen and listened, that no achievement (success) is attained in sandhya (prayer). Knowledge, strength, pleasure, fearlessness, tranquility, gladness etc. are not gained by establishing relation with Ishwar (GOD). Mind does not stop even for 2 to 4 minutes during the period of prayer (sandhya). What, Why. When, How, Like this-that etc.-such impulses of thoughts continuously protrude, one after the other in different subjects and do not stop.
People say that "we do not raise so many dispositions during day time while doing worldly essential deeds, but when we take posture for meditating Ishwar, while putting off entire worldly acts, it is not understood wherefrom all these dispositions arise. Entire time passes merely in perceiving the moving scenes related to events which are raised in the form of various kind of resolution-alternative, or indecisiveness of new schemes or years old worn-out dispositions, Many times even lessons of sandhya verses are not accomplished within half an hour."
The result is that no achievement of any kind is received and in due interval of term, the sadhak either puts off the sandhya or finishes the formalities with reciting verses in 5 to 10 minutes. Whenever any discussion in respect of sandhya holds, and somebody asks some other person, then answer received is "my mind does not attend to sandhya, and slips into other worldly subject and does not stop even though I try to restrict it. It seems that mind is the other conscious element similar to soul in body, which raises different thoughts during the period of sandhya, even though I do not desire to raise them". But all these aspects are nothing but mere illusions that mind is conscious and raising thoughts by itself. In reality mind can not lift itself any thought without desire and inspiration of soul, this is the authentic principle.
There are various reasons for not attaining success in devotion of Ishwar just as not to understand the attainment of Ishwar as goal of life, not to have knowledge of advantages of Yoga-practice, not to make mental preparation before founding of sandhya, not to know the proper method of pranayam, not to know the real selfform of attainable (Ishwar), perseverer (Soul) and resources (World), not to follow Japa in proper mode, not to make lshwar-Pranidham (Surrender to God), not to know the word, meaning and sentiment of' verses of sandhya, not to make proper conduct of Yama, Niyama in behavioral time etc. If above described obstruction- causes be recognized and be removed and matchless love towards Ishwar be produced, then certainly success is achieved in worship, this is definite. Specific knowledge, strength, pleasure, fearlessness, selflessness, mercy, benevolence etc. from Ishwar are acquired.
Facts related to sandhya which are listened, understood in past several years from respected pious master Swanti-Satyapatiji Maharaj Parivrajak; and benefits acquired by putting those facts into practice, an attempt is made to comply them in short form in this small booklet. It is hoped that enthusiastic Yoga perseverers may seek benefit with its reading, understanding and putting them into practice.
Shri Chinubhai G. -Patel, a learned engineer and a scholar on spiritual subjects at USA, who had written and translated several works in past such as 'Yoga Darshan-Bhashya' (Gujarati), 'Aapnan Sampradayo' (Gujarati), has also put his great efforts in carrying out the effective translation of this book also. I am heartily thankful to him for such a good task. He has been always a well-wisher for our Darshan-Yoga Mahavidyalaya and preaching for the same abroad.
I am also thankful to Shri Nalinchandra C. Mody of Ahmedabad for the work of proof-reading with editing and bringing out in this presentable form. Shri Vimal & Rekha Velani have sponsored this publication extending their liberal help. We are thankful to them for their selfless participation.

Ramayana – By: Chakravarti Rajagopalachari
Chakravarti Rajagopalachari, popularly known as "Rajaji" or "C.R" was a great patriot, astute politician, incisive thinker, great visionary and one of the greatest statesmen of all time. He was a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi, hailed as conscience-keeper of the Mahatma. As an ardent freedom-fighter, as Chief Minister of Madras, as Governor of West Bengal, as Home Minister of India and as the first Indian Governor General of India, he rendered yeoman service to the nation and left an indelible impression on our contemporary life.
Rajaji was closely associated with Kulapati Munshiji and he was among the distinguished founder members of the Bhavan. The Bhavan had the privilege of publishing 18 books authored (see page ii) by him so far, the copyright of which he gifted to the Bhavan.
All of Rajaji's works, especially on Marcus Aurelius, the Bhagavad Gita and. Upanishads are popular. In Mahabharata, he has displayed his inimitable flair for story-telling and applying the moral of stories to the needs of modern times. The stories were originally written in Tamil and have been rendered into English, mainly by Rajaji himself. To have preserved the beauty and spirit of the great original in refined and simple English is an achievement of the highest order.
In the present book Ramayana, Rajaji captures for us the pathos and beauty of Valmiki's magic in an inimitable manner. Written in homely style, the work was striking in its originality and beauty of expression. A fitting successor to Mahabharata.
The thought-processes of this patriarch retained their sharp edge, while the notes of his silver tongue did not lose any of their charms even when he was a nonagenarian.
